
Demirhan Gökbudak was born in Turkey in 1998 and began studying the violin at the age of eight with Adilhoca Aziz. After graduating from the Bilkent University Music Preparatory School in 2016, he moved to Austria to continue his studies at the Mozarteum University Salzburg under Professor Lukas Hagen of the Hagen Quartet. He completed his bachelor’s degree in 2021 and his master’s degree in 2024. Since 2026, he has been pursuing his doctoral studies in violin performance at the Seoul National University College of Music in South Korea.
Gökbudak has received prizes at national and international competitions, including Second Prize and the Best Turkish Work Interpretation Award at the 5th Gülden Turalı Violin Competition, First Prize at the Virtuoso International Music Competition Grand Prize in Austria in 2018, First Prize in İş Sanat’s Shining Stars series in Istanbul in 2019, and a Special Prize at the International Classical Pure Viennese Music Competition in Vienna.
Since the age of eleven, he has appeared as a soloist with orchestras and conductors including Christoph Poppen, Thomas Rösner, Orhun Orhon, Artun Hoinic, Işın Metin and İbrahim Yazıcı. His orchestral appearances include performances with the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, Borusan Philharmonic Orchestra and Academic Capital Chamber Orchestra, with repertoire including Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor, Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen and Saint-Saëns’ Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso.
As a soloist and chamber musician, he has performed in South Korea, Turkey and across Europe, with concert appearances in countries including Austria, Germany, France, Italy and Belgium. His festival appearances include the Musica Mundi International Chamber Music Festival, the Beethoven Festival in Bonn, Bilkent Violin Days, the 1st Young Talents Classical Music Festival in Burdur, and the opening concert of the International Kısa-Ca Student Film Festival award ceremony.
Throughout his musical development, Gökbudak has worked with distinguished artists including Ivry Gitlis, Maxim Vengerov, Vadim Repin, Alexander Markov, Alexander Vinnitski, Vadim Gluzman, Ilya Kaler, Cihat Aşkın, Guy Braunstein, Sergey Ostrovsky and Robin Wilson.
In 2025, he released his debut album, Drops, featuring works by composers including Bach, Tchaikovsky and Saint-Saëns. Alongside his concert activities, he is actively involved in recording and digital media, creating performance and educational content focused on violin playing, interpretation and musical development.
His recent media work also includes an on-screen appearance as concertmaster in the tvN and Netflix drama Four Hands in 2026, where he took part in orchestral and featured violin scenes.
His repertoire spans works by composers including Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Saint-Saëns, Sarasate, Kreisler and Williams, encompassing both the core classical repertoire and virtuoso violin literature.
Since 2019, Gökbudak has performed on a modern violin made by Hans Pluhar.
